Noida, March 2016: CP PLUS, India’s No.1 surveillance brand, recently secured the Kumbakonam temples including the Mahamaham tank in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu on the occasion of the Mahamaham Festival. Celebrated once in twelve years, the Mahamaham festival is a similar to Kumbh Mela where Hindus consider taking a dip in the holy Mahamaham tank sacred. The festival attracts scores of people from across the country, so much so that managing the crowd becomes a major challenge. Hence, this time around, the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Dept. (TNHRNC) decided to upgrade to surveillance technology.
“The Mahamaham Festival is a huge one; managing public at events such as these can be a daunting task for the authorities. We were approached by the Kumbakonam authorities to secure all of the 17 temples in and around the town as well as the sacred Mahamaham Tank, and we were more than happy to help”, said Mr. Yogesh B. Dutta, COO – CP PLUS.
In collaboration with the and a local system integrator and the TNHRNC, CP PLUS installed 330 cameras across 17 temples in Kumbakonam – 300 3MP Bullet cameras and 30 2MP IP PTZ Cameras, and an NVR to centrally monitor all the locations from the control room. On the successful installation of the same, and observing the quality of surveillance thereafter, the local police requested installation of 4 more IP PTZ cameras on all four corners of the Mahamaham Tank which would be the main spot during the festival.
The festival saw an average of 30,000 visitors daily through the 10 days that it lasted, from 13th-22nd February 2016. CP PLUS cameras successfully covered the event offering high quality surveillance round the clock, thereby winning huge praise from the TNHRNC and the Kumbakonam police.
