The second one titled ‘Entrepreneur of the Year ‘Award for safety and security was won by Mr. Ashish P Dhakan, Managing Director & CEO of Prama Hikvision (India) Pvt Ltd.
Control Room of The Year
Control Room is the nerve center of any security system. In the case of Vijaya Bank the central location consists of a combination of hardware and software to carry out the complete surveillance process. Twelve servers have been installed to take care of 24000 cameras distributed along 2000 branches and ATM's all over India. Centralized monitoring s/w has been installed in each server with 2000 channels loaded. The configuration is prudently optimized so that bandwidth requirement for surveillance is fulfilled from the Vijaya Bank's network itself. Twelve workstations have been setup with one security guard at each station carrying out the region-wise surveillance process like e-map, alarm center, download center etc. through the Control client of the s/w. Each workstation has multiple auxiliary screens where video pop up of related critical alarm appears along with the complete information such as camera name, type of alert etc. These are cross checked in alarm center and emap to find the exact location of where the alarm has triggered, thus making analysis easy so that quick action can be taken against the alarm within a short time. Such 100 simultaneous pop ups can be seen on single screen thus making surveillance a very easy operational process. Monitoring can be effected by a number of control room design features.
Low camera to operator and camera to monitor ratios increase the probability of or absence of a dedicated operator for each station.

Commendable Initiatives
The process of control management (recording, logging, storage, and retrieval) is vital when the system is used retrospectively, providing evidence that can be used to identify offenders, witnesses, or even victims. These images can also be used to extract guilty pleas, as well as to secure convictions in court. Methods of tape management varied across the control rooms, and in some extreme cases involved such lengthy processes that they took up to 35 per cent of a shift. This could lead to adverse implications when the control room also aims to be active in detecting incidents.
A number of control rooms implemented management procedures which reduced the disruption to proactive monitoring. Examples include preparing viewing playback during quieter periods of the day (i.e. 3-6a.m.); changing tapes during the overlap between shifts, ensuring that one shift performs the tape changes while the other shift monitors the cameras. The whole process requires substantially less management than the analogue systems.
Entrepreneur of The Year
Also at the Shield Awards 2016, Prama Hikvision (India) Pvt. Ltd’s Managing Director & CEO Mr. Ashish Dhakan was honored by ‘Amit Popat’ Award for the Entrepreneur of the Year in Safety & Security. The award was presented to Mr. Dhakan by at a glittering ceremony held at Secutech India 2016 Exhibition .
