Mumbai, October 12, 2016
In yet another industry first, Hikvision, the global leader in innovative video surveillance products and solutions announced today that it has launched the Unmanaged Network PoE Switches that will meet the requirements of all its customers and help them to save on cost and consumption of power considerably. An unmanaged switch allows Ethernet devices to communicate with one another, such as a PC or network printer, and those are typically “plug and play.” They are shipped with a fixed configuration and do not allow any changes to this configuration.
Speaking at the launch function, Mr. Ashish Dhakan, Managing Director & CEO, Pramahikvision (India) Pvt. Limited told mediapersons, “The unmanaged switches from Hikvision are cost-effective and customer-friendly. Our switches are designed without compromising quality or reliability. They can be used in all weather conditions. They are suitable for all applications in which switch management is unnecessary such as at field level in industrial networks or in smaller infrastructures. These unmanaged switches are able to provide ideal solution to every customer in every area of application.”
Unmanaged switches have no configuration interface or options. They are plug-and-play with no remote configuration, management or monitoring options although many can be locally monitored and configured via LED indicators and DIP switches. These inexpensive switches are typically used in small networks or to add temporary workgroups to larger networks. They are, found in home, SOHO, or small businesses. They can be desktop or rack mounted. Unmanaged switches have a set behavior that works from the time they are powered on until they're powered off.
With its extremely wide range of industry-grade, Hikvision’s unmanaged switches are able to provide instant connectivity to businesses. The switches are equipped with a redundant power supply and signal contact. Hikvision’s portfolio also features devices with a robust IP67/IP54 housing for use in the most demanding environments. Switches with PoE ports are also available, capable of supplying power to devices such as IP cameras or IP phones via the Ethernet cable. Its vast portfolio is certified for a raft of application areas such as transport, mining and power industries.
