Now in its 17th edition, The Middle East Fire, Security & Safety Exhibition and Conference (MEFSEC) is one of Egypt’s leading exhibitions dedicated to the innovation and growth of the fire safety and security sector, creating a platform for some of the industry’s biggest players to come together and discuss the latest trends and advancements.
Taking place in Cairo’s International Exhibition and Conference Centre, the three-day event allows industry professionals to source new technologies, equipment and services from local and international manufacturers, suppliers and regional distributors.
MEFSEC 2016 will be officially hosted by the Egyptian Civil Protection Authority. The Civil Protection Authority will exhibit at the show, displaying their top of the range equipment from each of the following divisions:
- Urban Search and Rescue Unit
- Fire Fighting Equipment
- Bomb Disposal Unit
- Water Rescue Unit
- General Directorate of Traffic
The Egyptian Civil Protection Authority will also discuss the challenges they are currently facing during the MEFSEC fire and security conferences.
“For the first time ever we have made MEFSEC a standalone event, away from Electrix and Solartec. We felt the time was right as the show is going through a significant growth phase, and with the support of the Egyptian Fire Protection Association this year, I believe that our platform has never been in a stronger position to support the exponential growth the Egyptian security sector is currently witnessing” said Anita Mathews, Group Director, Informa Industrial Group organisers of MEFSEC.
Based on data compiled from Securitas & Freedonia, when benchmarked against ratios from global regions, Egypt’s addressable security market is estimated at around USD 1.6 billion, representing around 0.5 per cent of total GDP. This is equivalent to around 10 per cent of the MENA regions addressable security market, and in terms of growth rates Egypt’s security market is anticipated to grow at high single-digit rates nearing 10 per cent per annum.
“Egypt is one of the main high potential markets in the Arab region. We choose to participate in MEFSEC to successfully reach the Egyptian and North African markets. It is always an impressive and successful experience for us, and we will never hesitate to participate for many years ahead." Said Youssef Abu Sall, General Manager of SFFECO.
A new addition this year is a conference dedicated to Fire professionals. The Fire Safety and Prevention conference is run in collaboration with both the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Egyptian Fire Protection Association (EFPA). The conference will will focus specifically on the future of systems integration, topics including firefighting, alarm systems, HVAC and smoke control, fire pumps, access control, and evacuation processes. This includes an important update from the NFPA regarding Fire and Life Safety Codes and Standards usage.
New surveillance, inter-departmental communication, and safety protocols will also be explored is a separate security forum to assess how to bring confidence back to several Egyptian economy sectors disrupted by the attacks of recent years.
“We exhibit at MEFSEC because it is the only exhibition in Egypt that specialises in security solutions. This will be our 9th year at the show. To be part of MEFSEC shows that you are a serious player in the market, and it is a great opportunity to find out what the latest trends and advancements in the market are.” Commented Hatem Sabri Abou El Noor, Chairman, Hi Tech Nour.
A number of leading Fire companies are taking part this year including; Bavaria, SFFECO, Firex, Rapidrop, Watania and Underwriters Laboratories. Exhibitors at MEFSEC can expect to meet; Fire Consultants, GMs of commercial buildings, Facility Management Companies, Local Installers and Government Officials (including Civil Defence, Ministry of Interior, Military, Army, Aviation and Fire).
