The 33rd Annual Inspection Parade of the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services, Goa was held on 27th February 2021 at the Goa State Fire Force Training Ground, St. Inez, Panaji-Goa. The Inspection Day Parade is an annual event to test the overall operational fitness level of the Fire Personnel for prompt response in the event of any emergency. Certificates and Trophies were handed over to the winners of the Drill Competition and Winners of Annual sports Meet. Shri Parimal Rai, I.A.S., Chief Secretary, Government of Goa was the Chief Guest for the function. Shri. Mekala Chaitanya, IAS, Special Secretary Home and Shri Subhash Chandra, IFS Government of Goa also graced the occasion.
Shri Ashok Menon, Director, Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services inspected the Annual Parade and the best turns out Fire Personnel from various Ranks were selected for the Best Turn out Awards. First Place for Squad Drill, Ladder Drill was awarded to Fire Force Headquarters, Pump Drill to Ponda Fire Station and Tug of War to Mapusa Fire Station. Best Turn Out was awarded to Shri. Sushil Moraskar, Station Fire Officer,        Shri. Damodar D. Zambaulikar & Shri. Pandurang Kankonkar Sub Officer, Shri. Ulhas Gaonkar & Shri. Sudesh Barekar, Leading Fire Fighter, Shri. Kundan Patil, Shri. Jasmen Pereira & Shri. Rahul Tulaskar, Watchroom Operator, Shri. Tanesh Matkar, Dinesh Gawade Driver Operator, Shri. Shailesh C. Paingitkar, Shri. Bharat Mhalsekar, Shri. Dinesh Tuenkar & Shri. Paresh Gawas, Fire Fighter.
Shri. Ashok Menon, Director, Fire & Emergency Services in his Welcome Address stated that the Annual Inspection Parade is an important occasion for the department wherein the administrative superior has an opportunity to critically scrutinize the performance efficiency of the department’s operational units. He further apprised the dignitaries regarding the various activities carried out by the department in the field of Fire Fighting, Fire Prevention, Fire Protection and Training in the State of Goa. Also, he stated that the Aapada Mitra Scheme of Government of India is a good initiative and the State will soon be training 200 Volunteers in Each District. The Department is the Nodal Authority for implementing the Scheme in the State. Due representation will be given to women volunteers to be Aapada Sakhi. These Volunteers both Male and Female would be trained by Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services in various Disaster Management Skills. Moreover, he stated that the Department has promptly complied with the Government initiative for making available online service of the Department through the Goa Online Portal. This initiative has facilitated the Citizens for better access to the Department. The department has revamped its website www.dfes.goa.gov.in which is more responsive and dynamic in nature. The progress of response to live incident calls can now be monitored online by the citizen. Further Virtual Stimulation Zone has been initiated for Fire Safety awareness through CSR support and Fire Safety and Disaster Management App has been developed.
Shri Parimal Rai, I.A.S., Chief Secretary, Government of Goa in his speech praised the performance of the March Past and Ladder Drill conducted. Further he applauded the departments contribution in the sanitization drive carried out across the State of Goa during the Covid 19 Pandemic. He also stated that the Department should enhance its physical and IT related skill so that it will reduce the response time since the department is the first responder in any disaster.
Exhibition of Ladder Drill event was carried out by the Fire Force Headquarters Fire Personnel crew, which was excellently executed within a timing of 51.47 seconds. Â Shri. Ajit Kamat, Asst. Divisional Officer, North Zone welcomed the gathering and proposed the Vote of Thanks.
