Mumbai, September 25, 2025 – United Fire Equipments Pvt. Ltd., under its flagship brand “LIFEGUARD”, has been conferred with the prestigious “Innovative Product of the Year Award – 2025” by the Institution of Fire Engineers (India) at the Fire India 2025 Conference.
The award was presented to Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Director – United Fire Equipments Pvt. Ltd. (LIFEGUARD) for the Indigenous Development of Extinguishing Agent for Lithium-Ion Battery Fires – a breakthrough innovation based on Hydrated Mica Suspension (HMS) Technology.
The Award was conferred from the hands of Dr. Sudhanshu Sarangi, IPS, DG Fire & Emergency Services, Odisha State in the presence of Dr. O. P. Singh, IPS, DGP,UP and DG, NDRF, Dr. Bangar, IAS, ED Haryana Airports Corporation Ltd, Haryana and other dignitaries on the dais.
A First in India Innovation
Lithium-ion battery fire incidents in Electric Vehicles (Evs), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and industrial setups pose emerging safety challenges worldwide. Traditional fire extinguishing agents like water, CO₂, foams, or powders either react violently, fail to cool effectively, or allow re-ignition.
LIFEGUARD’s HMS-based solution (LiON-Ex™) addresses these critical gaps by combining:
- Rapid Cooling – absorbs heat and prevents thermal runaway
- Barrier Formation – mica film cuts oxygen supply
