Every year Fire Service Day is observed nationwide on 14th April in remembrance of brave fire fighters who lost their lives fighting the massive fire which had occurred at BOMBAY DOCKYARD in 1944. The theme for this year, as directed by the ministry of home affairs, is “Fire Prevention is better than Fire Fighting”

On the commemoration function Approx. 500 employees and associates including all plant HOD’s participated in an action packed event. Obeisance to the brave and selfless fire fighters were paid by the Executive Director’s and plant seniors in remembrance of their supreme sacrifice. While Head Security & Fire shared Departments initiatives, achievements and way forward, Factory occupier, Factory Manager & COO addressing the gathering commended and congratulated fire team for their tremendous service to the company and society at large. Prizes were distributed among the Departments 
taking initiatives for emergency preparedness, to the Best Compliance Managers from various departments and to the winners of various activities & competitions held during the week preceding National Fire Service Day. Then breath taking rescue and firefighting drills, depicting real life emergency scenarios, were demonstrated by the team of firemen and auxiliary fire fighters EStIL Hazira observed National Fire Service Week from 6-14 April 2019. The main objective of this week was to enhance fire safety awareness among employees & associates through various programs.
- In line with this Year’s Theme a Knowledge Sharing Session on “Fire Prevention & Fire Protection” was organized in the auditorium. Total 220 employees benefitted from this session which was conducted by Mr Prahlad Singh, Sr VP Fire (Retd), Reliance Industries Limited.
- “On Spot Fire Safety Quiz” was organized for EStIL complex. Around 400 employees & associates took part from various plants.
- Table Top Scenario Based Emergency Preparedness & Response Competition was attended to by 78 employees from various plants.
- Total 90 employees & associates participated in the Scenario Based Group Practical Fire Fighting Competition. These competition were conducted in our live simulations based fire training ground which is unique and very few facilities have such type of arrangements at single location. We have simulations with fire protection system for Transformer, NG Skid, Pool Fire, NGL Tank, Cable Tunnel etc.
- A record 71 SUJHAV were received as part of Online Sujhav Competition on Fire Prevention through Engineering Control.
- Practical fire fighting & rescue demonstration by Fire team was organized commemoration ceremony attended by all seniors & a foot fall of over 500 employees/associates.
- Fire prevention & emergency preparedness movie screening on local TV channel.
- Awards were given to winners of various competitions held during the fire service week. Special appreciation awards were also given away to various departments & individuals for their contribution towards emergency preparedness & best fire prevention practices
