OS+H Asia returns in 2016

osha24 to 26 August at Suntec Singapore

Presenting an enhanced focus on Safety, Security and Health at Work

27 October 2015 – Messe Düsseldorf Asia has confirmed that OS+H Asia, The Occupational Safety + Health Exhibition for Asia, will return for its tenth edition from 24 to 26 August 2016 at Suntec Singapore.

With safety at work, health-maintaining working conditions and a healthy workforce fast gaining momentum as paramount initiatives for all companies particularly within ASEAN member countries, OS+H Asia 2016 will present the latest in occupational safety and health solutions, technologies and products across diverse industries and sectors that are more current than ever. Resonating this rising development, the 2016 event will feature three enhanced focus areas namely Safety, Security and Health at Work.

"These three established themes have traditionally been OS+H Asia's focal points, but in 2016, you will see an enhanced presentation of safety monitoring and surveillance systems, solutions for work safety at high risk areas, industrial first aid equipment, ergonomically designed work solutions and environmental and fire protection gear among many others, in keeping with current trends and oriented towards the needs of the core target groups from corporate safety and the health management sector," said Mr Gernot Ringling, Managing Director, Messe Düsseldorf Asia.

In view of the changing work landscape occurring all over the world as companies strive to raise OSH standards, technology development championing workplace safety and health alongside all measures of action are becoming increasingly significant. "OS+H Asia is a unique platform that provides significant impact in helping companies improve their safety and health standards and in developing a proactive and preventive approach to safety and health in the workplace," he added.

Over the last few years, many ASEAN member countries have made rapid progress in raising OSH standards as governments in the region step up workplace safety policies. Singapore for instance, aims by 2018 to bring down the national fatality rate to less than 1.8 per 100,000 workers according to WSH2018 – the National Strategy for Workplace Safety and Health. Thailand has also launched their 'Safety Mind' project to reiterate the importance of a safety conscience in order to establish workplace safety as the ideology and attitude of organizations and workers towards safety in their own workplace. With the aim to enhance and implement OSH requirements across Asia's booming infrastructure development market, vibrant manufacturing and construction landscape – producers, manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of safety products and solutions will play a key role in helping businesses achieve safety excellence.

For OS+H Asia 2016, the growing demand for workplace safety and health products and solutions, fuelled by the government and industry's heightened call for companies to achieve a zero-harm and accident-free state, will be reflected at the trade fair with more than 200 international exhibitors and leading brand names. As a highly targeted event for all involved in occupational safety and health, the trade fair offers an exclusive opportunity for exhibitors to connect and engage with international decision makers on new solutions applicable across diverse industries and sectors during three days of face-to-face business meetings and networking.

Driven by the sector's leading global exhibition for Personal Protection, Security and Health at the Workplace, A+A organised by Messe Düsseldorf, OS+H Asia has grown from strength to strength since its inception in 1998 and consistently records healthy numbers of participation from both exhibitors and visitors. In 2014, OS+H Asia welcomed 157 exhibitors from 18 countries and 5,800 trade visitors from around the region.

Target groups of OS+H Asia 2016 include experts from the field of occupational work safety and safety management, facilities and site managers, proprietors and managers, specialist shops, human resource officers, industrial purchasers, personnel and supervisory boards and emergency services personnel.

In addition to OS+H Asia 2016, concurrent strategic events will also take place once again, including The Singapore WSH Conference 2016 and the Forum on Workplace Safety and Health.

The Singapore WSH Conference 2016 is a two-day conference jointly organized by Singapore's WSH Council, Ministry of Manpower and WSH Institute and is scheduled to be held on 24 and 25 August 2016. The conference will bring together some 1,000 senior government officials, heads of management and world-renowned WSH professionals and practitioners from diverse industries in the Asia Pacific.

The Forum on Workplace Safety and Health is a one-day regional forum jointly organized by The Institution of Engineers, The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Singapore Branch), The Occupational and Environmental Health Society (Singapore), The Singapore Institution of Safety Officers and Messe Düsseldorf Asia. The forum is scheduled to be held on 26 August 2016 and will gather more than 400 WSH experts, professionals, specialist service providers and manufacturers within ASEAN to share strategic capabilities in workplace safety and health.
